Last night I attended the Redland Art Awards 2018 at the Redland Art Gallery in Cleveland. This is a biennial contemporary painting prize that selects around 50 finalists from a national pool of around 500 entries. I am honoured to be included in the show. It is a beautiful, varied and challenging show of contemporary painting styles, genres and conceptual approaches. My work was one of the few expanded painting works accepted. The standard of the finalists' work is consistently very high. Artists who attended on the night included Simon Degroot, Nick Ashby, Kate Beynon and Leigh Schoenheimer. The Redland Art Gallery is a beautiful gallery space.
